The leather might have seemed a little stiff when I first slipped the ballet flats on my feet, but I quickly found that no breaking in was required. The heels have suffered the most damage, worn down just a touch, although after a year of almost constant wear, I wouldn’t expect any less. Unlike my previous pair, which seemed immune to every minor knock or scrape, I found that the Porselli’s endured most scrapes – bar a couple minor nicks at the toe – in addition to surviving a bout of Sydney’s torrential rain. 12 months on, and surprisingly they’re still going strong, if not a little beaten and battered, proof that they really are as good as I’d been told. Besides the fact that these artisan ballet flats are pretty in pastel they’re also handmade in Italy using 100% Italian leather from heel to toe.About this time last year, persuaded by the sweet writings of Hannah-Rose, I pulled the trigger on a pair of Porselli ballet flats in a classic black leather. With such an array of colors ranging from the more traditional black, pink, and beige, to light pastel colors resembling spring, like sky blue and lavender, there is a color for every occasion. Maybe I’m not a dancer but when I put a pair of these dance inspired ballet flats on I feel like leaping through the air. I too, love to dance but in no fashion would I call myself a dancer, however, it doesn’t stop me from admiring or even pining over the whimsical leather ballet flats that Porselli makes. Porselli, one of dance’s most well-known gems, is an Italian brand that handmakes a number of dance related items. To all my dancers around the world, especially ballet, I have one word for you, Porselli. Plie, first position, second position, third position…if you’re a dancer or feel inspired by it, or even better yet, if you are passionate about dance and fashion, look no further.
